2009 Project Management Course
The Project Management Course has been developed by ASOFIA in conjunction with the Advanced Building Technology Department at the Holmesglen Institute of TAFE, specifically for trade qualified project managers and aspiring project managers, who are currently employed in the shop and office fitting industry, to increase their competency levels and in doing so gain a professional qualification which has a national accreditation.
The Certificate IV course program is undertaken over two semesters of 18 weeks duration.  A seminar will be held before each semester to introduce the subjects and guide the participants learning process.  The course involves self paced study of specially developed learning materials, which are received and responded to by email.  Study is undertaken remotely, normally from home or the office of the employer.
It is expected that participants will need to study for approximately 10 hours per week to complete the work within the program.  The eight units of the course will be assessed at specific times during each semester.  At the end of each semester a seminar will be held to review and discuss the course content.
Senior industry experts from ASOFIA member companies will speak at the seminars on important topics, which are not covered in the course.
The course is open to any person who fulfills the prerequisites and who feels they would benefit from training in project management.
Application for a place in the Project Management Course should be completed by both the Employer and Employee on the attached application form.
It is important that staff nominated for admission to the Course meet the course prerequisites.
Applications for the 2009 intake must be lodged at the ASOFIA National Office by 8th December 2008.
A limited number participants will be accepted in this intake.
