ASOFIA Project Management Course

The Project Management Course has been developed by ASOFIA in conjunction with the Advanced Building Technology Department at the Holmesglen Institute of TAFE

The Project Management Course has been developed by ASOFIA in conjunction with the Advanced Building Technology Department at the Holmesglen Institute of TAFE, specifically for trade qualified project managers and aspiring project managers, who are currently employed in the shop and office fitting industry, to increase their competency levels and in doing so gain a professional qualification which has a national accreditation.
The Certificate IV course program is undertaken over two semesters of 18 weeks duration.  A seminar will be held before each semester to introduce the subjects and guide the participants learning process.  The course involves self paced study of specially developed learning materials, which are received and responded to by email.  Study is undertaken remotely, normally from home or the office of the employer.
It is expected that participants will need to study for approximately 10 hours per week to complete the work within the program.  The eight units of the course will be assessed at specific times during each semester.  At the end of each semester a seminar will be held to review and discuss the course content.
Senior industry experts from ASOFIA member companies will speak at the seminars on important topics, which are not covered in the course.
The course is open to any person who meets the course prerequisites and feels they would benefit from training in project management.
Application for a place in the Project Management Course should be completed by both the Employer and Employee on the attached application form.  Application forms are also available from the ASOFIA National Office by calling (02) 4342 5555.
It is important that staff nominated for admission to the Course meet the course prerequisites.
A limited number participants will be accepted in this intake.

Job requirement is that you are able to dissect a project from the initial drawings, through to setting out, redrawing and creating cutting lists. Must have knowledge of joinery details and assembly process.

Must have experience in architectural joinery and be able to prepare cutting lists for large and small scale project.

To be successful in this position you will possess strong communication skills to enable liaison with clients, architects, builders as well as all operational staff. Your professionalism and positive attitude will be great assets enabling you to work within our friendly team environment.

Microvellum/AutoCAD experience would be an advantage.
